We’re offering a structured, mentorship-driven internship that takes you from zero SEO knowledge to real-world agency execution in 3 months.
SEO has always been one of the most valuable tools a business has. It builds organic traffic, attracts new customers, and does it without depending on ad platforms or traditional marketing spend.
But right now, it matters more than it ever has before.
You’ve may have heard that SEO is dead now that AI is here. That’s wrong. AI platforms pull their information from websites that rank on Google, Bing, and other search engines. None of them sell ad space yet. That means the only way a business can influence what AI says about them, or whether it mentions them at all, is by ranking higher in search.
SEO is the only marketing channel that gives businesses any influence over AI. And AI is the fastest-growing and most important platform in the world right now. That’s not going away.
This is a three-phase, three-month program. Each phase has a clear purpose and a standard you need to meet before you move forward.
You’ll complete a professional online SEO course that takes you from beginner to functioning SEO practitioner in 4 to 6 weeks.
Each week you’re responsible for 4 hours of course material, which includes videos and hands-on activities. We’ll also meet for 1 hour each week to go over what you covered, talk through any topics that need more context, and answer any questions you have.
Think of this phase as a condensed SEO 101 class. You will not handle client or agency work, you will simply follow a professional SEO course and then discuss what you have learned each week with an SEO expert.
Weekly workload: 4 to 5 hours
After “graduating” from the SEO 101 course in phase one, you will begin training and onboarding to prepare for working under the agency. During this phase, you will officially become a contractor of Digital Marketing Charlotte.
You’ll start applying what you learned to real websites, beginning with the agency’s own, mock-up sites, and live web environments.
You’ll be conducting your first real audits, building early reps on the same tasks professionals do every day.
Every task is reviewed and you’ll have direct guidance throughout. This is where you find out how well the knowledge actually sticks.
Weekly workload: 5 – 10 hours
Once you have had time to apply your learnings to real world websites and scenarios, you will begin working directly on client sites, conducting full audits, building out strategies from scratch, and taking on repeat work for existing clients.
You’ll also help develop the internal systems and processes the agency uses to deliver SEO at scale.
Interns who move onto this phase will receive a small pay bump to reflect the increase in responsibilities.
Guidance is still there when you need it, but the expectation at this point is that you can think independently, work strategically, and deliver real results.
Weekly workload: 10 – 15 hours
Please note that phase timelines, hours, and pay rates are estimates and are subject to change based on program needs and individual progress.
We’re looking for self-motivated, detail-oriented interns who are serious about building a career in digital marketing. You don’t need prior experience, just a strong interest in marketing, a willingness to learn, and the discipline to follow through. If you’re dependable, eager to grow, and ready to get your hands dirty in real-world campaigns, we want to hear from you.
Requirements
Nice to haves
During this program, you will get hands-on experience with a variety of industry standard tools and platforms

We are planning to accept up to three interns into Phase 1. Here’s how the application process will work
Submit your resume and a brief written response through the form on this page. We want to know who you are, why you want this, and what you’re hoping to do with it.
We review all applications and reach out to candidates we’d like to speak with. We’re looking for people who seem sharp, communicative, and genuinely motivated; not the most impressive resume.
We will invite you to a short, informal video conversation. We want to get a feel for how you think and communicate, and make sure this is a fit on both sides.
Selected candidates are invited to begin Phase 1. From here, performance determines everything. The best candidate at the end of Phase 1 earns the paid position in Phase 2 and, ultimately, Phase 3.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Spots are limited to three per cohort. If this sounds like the opportunity you’ve been looking for, don’t wait.
